The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program would like to invite you to the fifth webinar in our Gilman Web Symposium Series for the 2013-2014 academic year, "Working Together, Working Abroad."  The web symposium will provide best practices and resources for creating synergy between study abroad offices and career services offices to establish successful career-oriented internship opportunities abroad for students and help prepare participants for integrating their experiences abroad into careers.

This online forum, moderated by Gilman Program staff, will bring together the following panelists to discuss models and best practices for career integration and providing international internship opportunities to U.S. undergraduate students:
  • Marty Tillman, a well-known international education professional, author and presenter with expertise in developing education abroad program models to strengthen the career "toolkit" of participants. He is the former Associate Director of Career Services (ret.) at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS);
  • Kimberly Hindbjorgen (University of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center) and Angie Schmidt Whitney (University of Minnesota Career Services), have developed a successful working relationship to help students integrate education abroad into their careers and enhance awareness of internship abroad opportunities on campus;
  • Kevin Morrison (Elon University Study Abroad) has helped establish and maintain synergy with the Elon Career Resources office to guide students from education abroad into the professional world.
Stay tuned to the Gilman Program's multimedia page and future announcements for the scheduled web symposium topics each month.

The Gilman International Scholarship Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE).  The Gilman Program diversifies the kinds of U.S. undergraduate students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go.  To learn more about the Gilman Scholarship Program, please visit the website at www.iie.org/gilman or contact gilmanadvisors@iie.org.
