A new IIE-AIFS Foundation book, Women in the Global Economy: Leading Social Change explores the landscape of women’s participation in the economy and the key role women play in fueling economic growth by creating stable societies. The book notes how investing in women is increasingly seen as a driver for social and economic development.

The book is edited by Trish Tierney, Executive Director of IIE’s San Francisco office, who also oversees IIE’s Center for Women’s Leadership Initiatives and directs innovative programs linking the power of women and the power of technology. Through the Center’s programs, women develop and join networks of peers and mentors and serve as innovative leaders in the public and private sectors around the world.

Contributors to Women in the Global Economy: Leading Social Change include distinguished academics as well as leading intellectuals and practitioners in public policy, government and the non-profit sector. The book is available for purchase at the IIE Bookstore site.

IIE will celebrate the publication of the book and the launch of a new program, Higher Education Readiness: A Path to University for Girls at a panel discussion and reception in New York, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Click for more information, or to RSVP.
