Application Deadline: March 5

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship application deadline is quickly approaching. Online applications for study abroad programs taking place during the Summer 2013 and Fall/Academic Year 2013-2014 terms must be submitted by Tuesday, March 5 at 11:59pm Central Time in order to be considered.  Late applications will not be accepted. The advisor certification deadline is March 12.

The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. citizen undergraduate students who receive the Federal Pell Grant and are planning to study abroad. The program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.  Since inception of the program in 2001, over 13,300 U.S. undergraduate students from nearly 1,200 U.S. institutions have studied in more than 130 countries around the world.  The Gilman Scholarship Program now awards over 2,300 scholarships annually.  Students interested in applying can consult the Gilman Program website for information about eligibility, the application process and application timelines.  Helpful resources for students and advisors are also available online.

The Gilman Scholarship Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in Houston, TX. For more information, please visit the Gilman program website
