With over 40 opportunities available for the 2016-17 academic year, the Fulbright U.S. Scholar program to the Middle East and North Africa offers a wide variety of opportunities in a region that is rich with a myriad of cultures and traditions. The award offerings are diverse in discipline and activity, which allow scholars from virtually all focus areas to teach and conduct research at a range of prestigious universities, research institutes, and professional organizations. Fulbright Scholars to this region are given the invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in one of the most dynamic political, social and cultural landscapes in the world.
Highlights
Teach courses, conduct research or carry out a combination of teaching and research activities for ten months at either the University of Bahrain or the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Finance.
Provides an opportunity for postdoctoral scholars to conduct research for 20 months at any accredited institution of higher education in Israel. Applicants from any discipline are encouraged to apply.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in fields associated with conservation science, cultural resources management, heritage preservation and museology for 5-10 months at one of three potential host institutions. Open to academics in Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, and Area Studies.
Teach and/or conduct research for 3-10 months at any appropriate institution in Morocco. This award is open to academics and appropriately qualified professionals outside of academia, and a PhD is not required. Applicants from any discipline are encouraged to apply.
Teach and/or conduct research for 5-10 months at one of several potential host institutions in the West Bank. Applicants are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but preferred specializations include entrepreneurship/economic development, Islamic studies, media studies, nursing, nutrition, and peace studies/conflict resolution.
Teach for 5-10 months at Qatar University, Doha. Applicants are sought in all appropriate disciplines but those in Political Science are preferred. This award is open to academics and appropriately qualified professionals, and a PhD is required.
