Language Training Center Foreign Area Officer Special Initiative Solicitation

Proposal Deadline: April 24, 2015 | Learn More | Contact

The Language Training Center Program (LTC) is seeking proposals from U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide Foreign Area Officers (FAOs) with professional development and skills enrichment in regional and area studies. The LTC Program is a major initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) and administered by IIE. Through a partnership between the Department of Defense and IHEs, the LTC Program has supported the language and cultural training needs of a wide range of DoD personnel, including military linguists, intelligence analysts, special operations forces, foreign area officers, and the general purpose forces.

The goal of this special initiative is to provide FAOs with advanced understanding and analysis of the most current regional security affairs, and the impact of regional activities on interagency and joint operations in a seminar forum by leveraging regional and area studies programs at U.S. institutions of higher education working with government and private sector experts to meet the existing and demonstrated training needs of DoD units, offices, or agencies.

A technical assistance webinar will be offered on March 30, 2015, 3:00–4:00 PM EST. To register for the webinar or for questions regarding the solicitation, please email LTC@iie.org.
