As part of their Higher Education Series, the British Council will host a conference on October 18, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois, that addresses  the theme of: Driving Development: Higher Education in the New Economic Order. Among the questions that will be explored are: As government budgets are slashed and tuition and fees increase, how are institutions adapting themselves? How well are communities and institutions working together to help spur needed economic development? Is there room for internationalization in this climate of uncertainty? How can institutions prove that a degree still has the return on investment and strong employment prospects that have long been associated with higher education?
