Peggy Blumenthal Awarded the AIEA Charles Klasek Award for Outstanding Service to International Education

The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) awarded Peggy Blumenthal, Senior Counselor to the President at the Institute of International Education (IIE), with the Charles Klasek Award for Outstanding Service to International Education. This award recognizes Ms. Blumenthal’s lasting and outstanding service to the field of international education administration. Ms. Blumenthal received the award at the AIEA Conference in Washington, DC.

Ms. Blumenthal has served IIE for over 25 years. Before joining IIE in 1984, she served as Assistant Director of Stanford University's Overseas Studies and then as Coordinator of Graduate Services/Fellowships for the University of Hawaii's Center for Asian and Pacific Studies. Her earlier work focused on the development of U.S.-China exchanges as a staff member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and the Asia Society's China Council. Ms. Blumenthal holds a B.A. from Harvard University in modern Chinese history and an M.A. in American studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is a Board Member of The Japan Council on International Exchange-USA and the Hong Kong–America Center, and earlier served on the Board of Princeton-in-Asia.
