IIE’s Center for International Partnerships is pleased to announce the final call for applications to participate in the 2016 International Academic Partnership Program focusing on Brazil. The deadline to apply is January 22, 2016.

In recent years, Brazil has grown to become one of the top destinations for international academic exchange. With the momentum built from the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program, Brazil is poised to increase institutional linkages with U.S. institutions, offering opportunities for the full range of collaborative activities such as faculty exchange, student exchange, study abroad, service learning, joint research, or joint conferences. IIE’s partnership program with Brazil provides comprehensive training for U.S. higher education institutions to develop a campus-wide strategy for partnering with Brazilian institutions and a week-long study tour to Brazil organized in partnership with the Fulbright Commission in Brazil. All types of U.S. higher education institutions are encouraged to apply.

Five Core Program Services

1. Strategic planning process, including guidelines for assessing on-campus international partnership capacity and developing practical strategic plans for partnership activities in Brazil.

2. Expert advice and guidance on developing or expanding a strategic plan for partnerships with Brazil by one of the members of the IIE’s Brazil Advisory Board and IIE staff in the U.S. and in Brazil.

3. A study tour to Brazil that will include visits to select higher education institutions, the U.S. Embassy, EducationUSA Centers, the Fulbright Commission, and other educational exchange organizations. All in-country expenses for one representative from each institution will be covered as part of the program fees. Participants are responsible for covering their international airfare. The 2016 delegation will tentatively take place in April and include São Paulo, Porto Alegre, and Fortaleza. This year’s delegation will be organized in partnership with the Brazilian Fulbright Commission and align with the 2016 FAUBAI conference in Fortaleza.

4. A series of training webinars, focused on topics such as implementing strategic partnerships, higher education in Brazil, and best practices for engaging with Brazilian institutions.

5. A suite of information resources on the higher education system in Brazil, and IIE publications and policy research reports related to higher education, student mobility, and international partnership building.
