Support the York Accord to Protect Education During Conflict

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Universities and policymakers from around the world gathered at the University of York on July 17 to formulate the York Accord, declaring a commitment to protect and rebuild higher education caught in the crossfire of armed conflict. IIE joined with Brookings Doha Center and the University of York to convene a workshop addressing the pressing need for creative thinking on how best to respond to the challenges higher education faces in conflict-affected countries and what is the best way to contribute towards recovery and transition.  In the coming months, the conveners will reach out to the higher education community to ask them to support the York Accord. See the press release to read more about the York Accord workshop and download a copy.
