IIE Blog: How Are We Doing? The Role of Evaluation in IIE’s Programs

IIE’s Center for Academic Mobility Research has rapidly expanded its program evaluation services to meet the assessment needs of IIE’s growing programs. Senior Evaluation Officer Mirka Tvaruzkova describes two key evaluation projects highlighting IIE’s efforts to integrate evaluation into program cycles. The first is with the Cargill Global Scholars Program, which will initiate ongoing evaluation beginning at orientation and continuing throughout the cycle. The Higher Education Readiness (HER) Program in Ethiopia, which Tvaruzkova says involves "one of [the Center’s] most ambitious evaluations" will implement a "quasi-experimental" design that will monitor the academic and professional outcomes of the HER girls against the outcomes of a comparison group that is not part of the program.
