USAID DRG Center: CTIP Research Grants Draft Questions
Deadline for comments: 11:59PM, March 8, 2013

IIE announces an upcoming research grant opportunity in the counter-trafficking in persons (CTIP) field. The grants will support the CTIP work of USAID’s Center of Excellence for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG Center).

Prior to issuing the full RFA, USAID would like to solicit comments and feedback on the draft questions. The questions will focus on three areas:
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of USAID’s CTIP efforts across diverse program portfolios.
  • Assessing if a knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) survey could be a useful tool to gather and analyze public awareness of and opinions about trafficking and, if so, how such a survey should be designed and administered.
  • Determining what additional factors make children from some households, in communities that face the same socio-economic or political conditions, more vulnerable to trafficking than their neighbors.
The full text of the questions, and instructions for submitting commenting, are available here: http://bit.ly/WlUWHz. The questions will be open for comment until 11:59 PM EST on March 8, 2013.

USAID Democracy Fellows and Grants Program (DFG)
The DFG program is designed to develop a pool of committed professionals at the junior, mid-, and senior levels; to strengthen relations between USAID and academic, think tank, and research organizations; and to promote research and innovative solutions to DRG programs.

The program will offer two types of opportunities to engage experts, students, and academic institutions in supporting USAID programming and policy: 1) fellowships to junior, mid-level, and senior DRG professionals and 2) grants to academic or research institutions working in the DRG fields (still under development, with more information available on the DFG site in the near future).
