To mark its 10th anniversary, IIE's Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) is featuring the inspiring stories of 10 threatened scholars whose lives and academic work have been saved by the Fund.

Dr. Myint Oo is a Burmese physician and health educator whose advocacy for human rights and links to international health organizations subjected him to threats, harassment, and multiple arrests. Through a SRF fellowship, he continued his work in public health in safety at Tufts University and University College Cork. He recently returned to his home country and has resumed his work with the General Practitioners’ Society as Secretary for the Committee of Ethics.
