To mark its 10th anniversary this year, IIE's Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) is featuring the inspiring stories of 10 threatened scholars whose lives and academic work have been saved by the Fund. The second scholar to be featured is Dr. Paul Ndebele, a Zimbabwean scholar of psychology with a research focus on Bioethics who was recently appointed by the Henry Jackson Foundation in Bethesda, Maryland, as a Bioethicist Contractor. Unable to work effectively in the midst of the deteriorating political and economic environment in Zimbabwe, Dr. Ndbele received SRF fellowship support in 2003 to participate in a bioethics fellowship program at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
