EducationUSA College Fair in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region
October 13-15, 2011
Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan Region

Registration Deadline: September 9, 2011

Accredited U.S. colleges and universities are invited to participate in the first ever EducationUSA College Fair in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The fair will take place in the city of Erbil from October 13-15, 2011. With the goal of increasing the number of Iraqi Kurdish students at colleges and universities in the U.S., this fair will provide you with an opportunity to talk directly with many interested scholarship students and their parents and share with them the programs and academic options available at your institution. We encourage you to take part in this unique recruiting opportunity that will give your institution maximum exposure to qualified students from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region who are interested in pursuing studies in the United States.

The Kurdistan Regional Government recently announced the launch of the Human Capacity Development Program (HCDP), a major new scholarship program with an annual budget of $100 million. This program provides thousands of students with the opportunity to study at universities around the world. The scholarship program is only for graduate students, many of whom will need conditional admission. Currently, 1,000 students have been awarded the scholarships and are ready to go to the U.S., but need to be accepted to U.S. institutions. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Scholarship Program will open the next round of scholarships in August (to accept applications) and award another 1,000 scholarships in September. Other ministries of the Kurdistan Regional Government (in addition to the Ministry of Higher Education) are expected to award 1,000 scholarships to their employees.

In addition, scholarship recipients from the other official scholarship programs can be expected to attend the Fair in Erbil. The Ministry of Higher Education in Baghdad and The Higher Committee for Education Development (HCED) in Iraq have awarded scholarships to students across the country.

The EducationUSA College Fair is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit scholarship students from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
