IIE Blog: The View from Down Under: Reflections on the APAIE Conference in Melbourne

Paul Turner, Director of IIE’s Beijing and Hong Kong offices, shares outcomes from the most recent conference of the Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE).This conference took the theme of "Asia Pacific – A Global Education and Research Powerhouse" and supported the shared goal of reorienting international research and learning towards the region. There was discussion of Singapore’s position as a leader in quality research output, as well as China’s increasing output rivaling that of U.S. and European universities. Keynote speaker Professor Simon Marginson sees many opportunities for world enhancing ideas distilled between Asia and the rest of the planet, provided we all keep open minds and open borders.
