The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE), welcomed 44 government officials and higher education administrators from 24 countries to the United States for the EducationUSA Leadership Institutes on March 1st, 2016. These institutes provide a unique opportunity for representatives from the United States and participating countries to increase their understanding of U.S. higher education and cultivate a globally competent workforce. During the three Leadership Institutes, participants completed academic residencies and explored topics such as U.S. graduate education, industry-private sector linkages, and student mobility. Each cohort included 14 or 15 foreign government officials and higher education administrators who were nominated by U.S. embassies abroad.
