Scientists have found a way to wirelessly transmit electricity to a nearby moving object. The method may have applications in transportation, medical devices,and more. If electric cars could recharge while driving down a highway, for example, it would virtually eliminate concerns about their range and lower their cost, perhaps making electricity the standard fuel for vehicles.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recently released its small business optimism index for July, which shows hiring and sales indicators have got small business owners thinking positively. The monthly Index of small business optimism hit 105.2 for July, higher than the 103.6 level in June.

Mister Car Wash has acquired another Grand Rapids area car wash. With this latest acquisition, the Tuscon, Ariz. company now operates 236 car washes in 21 states, including 12 locations in the Grand Rapids area.

The Goo-Goo Car Wash company that has been headquartered in Columbus and operated locally by the same family since 1972 has gone international. A privately owned British firm called IMO Car Wash Group, which markets itself as "The World’s No. 1 Car Wash," acquired Goo-Goo about two weeks ago, company officials confirmed.

Brown Bear Car Wash celebrates its 60th anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 24, by offering free "Beary Clean" car washes at 24 tunnel wash locations in the Puget Sound area. Last year’s one-day event added sparkle and shine to 29,673 cars and trucks, and for the past 10 years, has provided more than 280,000 free washes as it celebrated its August "birthday."
