SPLOID I remember being so fascinated with automatic car washes as a kid. Forbes Search engine optimization (SEO) is something many marketers, web designers and data miners consider an "American thing"—or at least an English thing. However, SEO bridges language differences, cultural variances and seeps into every aspect of websites (or at least it should!) and website rankings. As a quick reminder, SEO is a set of evolving best practices that dictates where a website "ranks" in a search engine based on the website’s key phrases and keywords. For example, if you Google "ice cream shop San Diego," there’s a reason certain shops come up at the top of Google rankings: SEO. Likewise, if you Google "helado Chihuahua," certain ice cream parlors in Chihuahua, Mexico will come up (and hopefully not Chihuahua-flavored ice cream).
