           Dinner: 5:30-6:30pm
           Presentation: 6:30-7:30pm

Speaker: Paul Newton, MBA, PMP

Please note: Due to an unforeseeable emergency, Paul was unable to present on our originally scheduled date (March 5th). Due to the flexibility of our hotel partner, we have been able to reschedule the event to Thursday, March 27th.

Organizations have historically dealt with diversity in terms of race, gender, disabilities, etc. They now have to deal with extreme age differences among members of the five generations working together side by side. Since each generation has different expectations for how they want to work, learn and communicate, human resources need to adapt and change their talent management processes to appeal to all generations. As globalization, constant connectivity, mobility, social learning, collaboration and contribution are becoming more and more pervasive, HR has to become more integral to ensure the organization's success. We will show you how HR can succeed in this rapidly changing work environment.

Connecting to the pulse of business means tapping in to people's real motivations: supporting cultures where great ideas thrive; creating experiences that customers love; and finding all the way that 'soft' influences align with 'hard' performance indicators.

If you have solutions, experiences and stories  to share with Manitoba's HR professionals consider becoming a presenter at Connect 2014: Pulse. New HR professionals will be searching for solutions, resources and connections and experienced professionals will be looking for practical tools to apply to their workplaces and build on their experience. We invite you to submit a proposal to deliver a concurrent session and to inspire and engage conference attendees with leading research, emerging trends, case studies, panel discussions and interactive experiences.

Bringing together HR professionals of every level, Connect 2014: Pulse is your opportunity to showcase your commitment to the human resources profession, to significantly increase your visibility to this key group of professionals, and to network and engage those who make a difference every day.

In the news...

Many business leaders are frustrated in their attempts to find Millennials (born between 1980 and 2000) who seem to have the potential to lead the company in the years ahead. I've got a suggestion: search for those who competed in speech and debate competition in high school (or college) and hire them. As I write this post, I'm sitting here at James Logan High School in Union City, Ca. as a judge, observing the communication skills of students born between 1995 and 1999. They all come dressed like business executives and they have a deep understanding of how to persuade, how to present clearly and how to connect with an audience. It's impressive. Read more here

"Corporate Culture Fit" is a term that gets thrown around a lot today in discussions of HR strategies, as in "How well does this job applicant fit into our corporate culture?" Read more here
