Why do smart people fail? Why do technically brilliant individuals have trouble managing others and collaborating on a team? What they lack is a critical level of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and the ability to manage theirs and others emotions when they are under pressure.

Why should you take this course? Comments from 2017 participants:

"To have a better understanding of themselves and how they deal with others."
"It can transform people's personal lives as well as transform the workplace."
"It really makes you think deeper about your interactions with others, with an emphasis on challenging conversations or people you deal with."
"It is excellent and supports your professional growth by increasing self awareness."
"Phenomenal workshop. Easily the best workshop I have ever been to."

Presented by Sara Ross, Senior Research Consulting Partner at the Institute for Health and Human Potential (IHHP). For more information, click here.

We are already halfway through the 2017-2018 year. Now is the perfect time to update your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) log!

CPHRs are required to report a minimum of 100 hours of professional development activity over each rolling three year period and a minimum of 20 hours each year in order to maintain the CPHR designation.

CPD signifies continued mastery of the CPHR Competency Framework, which outlines 44 discipline specific professional competencies.

You need to have your log updated by May 31 each year. The CPHR Manitoba annual reporting process for CPD is entirely online -  make sure you are signed in as a member.

Need help deciding what qualifies as CPD or choosing the right category? Please see the links below:

If you have additional questions about the CPD process, please contact Lori Brûlé, CPHR Designation Manager at 204-943-3624 or email lori@cphrmb.ca.

For any questions or technical help related to inputting activities into your online log, contact Administrative & Membership Coordinator Kayla Desorcy by phone at 204-943-0886 or by email at kayla@cphrmb.ca.

The Holidays are coming! If you're making a list, check it twice and don't forget to update your CPHR designation.

1. For CPHRs, make sure you've updated the designation on LinkedIn, your business card, your email signature, and any other public profiles.

2. If you've recently achieved the CPHR designation, add it to your last name on your LinkedIn profile and under the "Certifications" section and on all other public profiles.

3. If you are a new CPHR Candidate, add the title to you last name on LinkedIn and on all other public profiles.

Keeping your CPHR designation updated is a great way to be a brand ambassador for the designation and CPHR Manitoba!

This fall, HR professionals from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia are being invited to participate in the Western Canada HR Trends Survey. This survey will result in the production of two reports: the Western Canada HR Trends Report and the Manitoba HR TrendsReport.

These reports are tools for HR practitioners and departments in Manitoba to make informed decisions with reliable information on what is occurring in Manitoba’s workplace. Good labour market information can help human resources practitioners make better decisions in giving human resources advice to their stakeholders.

We encourage you to watch for and complete this fall's HR Trends survey! Check your email and follow the survey link.
