REGULATORY ISSUES
EPD is temporarily exempting from Georgia EPD Air Quality Rule 391-3-1-. 02(5) the burning of vegetative debris resulting from storm damage for counties declared by the governor as being in a state of emergency as a result of the storms in late April 2011. This exemption applies only to vegetative debris. Other storm damage debris, such as that from damaged or destroyed housing, is solid waste and is not covered.

EPD’s open burning ban will be enforced in 54 Georgia counties through Sept. 30. The ban prohibits citizens and businesses from burning yard and land-clearing debris.

The regional water planning councils have been meeting regularly since February 2009 to prepare their initial draft recommended regional water plans. As required by the state water plan, the initial draft recommended regional water plans are subject to a public notice and comment period prior to EPD adoption. Therefore, EPD is releasing for public notice and comment, each of the 10 initial draft recommended regional water plans.

Please be aware that Board Rule 553-12-.02 (Continuing Education-Residential, Amended) was recently adopted by the Residential Contractor Division of the State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors. It will become effective on May 10, 2011.
