President's Message

Well, the House rose on June 22, and Members of Parliament returned to their Ridings. The pressure has been rising on Minister Garneau – pressure from his colleagues inside the Liberal Party; and pressure from the Opposition. Other like-minded aviation associations from across the country and their members have lent their voices to ours.

• The addition of new Start-Time and Sector-based limits on the Duty Day – Much shorter Duty Days will most adversely affect seasonal operations in Canada’s north during extended daylight periods;
• Maximum Tour-Lengths, reduced from 42 days, to 23 days – imposing a requirement for crew changes in remote areas two-to-three times more frequently;

“The new hard-copy document will help promote the Association’s Operator Members and Associates to their customers, and at the same time help explain a bit about the Association, and what it is we do”, said HAC’s President and CEO, Fred Jones. The document will also present an opportunity for our Members & Associates to advertise their goods and services to their customers. “Over 80% of Canada’s commercial helicopters are operated by HAC members, but there are still some operators who don’t understand what it is we do and the services that we provide.”
