Feature

The Georgia Trial Lawyers Association hosted the World Premiere of the full-length feature film 'A Larger Life' on Thursday, April 16 at the Midtown Arts Cinema in Atlanta. Based on the story of a real-life case that would eventually become Georgia's largest nursing home malpractice case of 2011, the film takes viewers on the inside of a heart-wrenching wrongful death case and tells the story of a plaintiff's long path for justice as only a plaintiffs' attorney truly can. It was written, directed, produced and starred-in by long-time GTLA member Bill Lundy, and also featured former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Fred Thompson.

The evening began with a cocktail reception at Apres Diem, where attendees had the opportunity to mix and mingle with the cast of the movie, as well as several judges and legislators. Then, at the conclusion of the Premiere, guests also had the chance to participate in a Q&A with the full cast of the film. It was a great time had by all, and we encourage all of you to see the film if you were unable to join us at the Premiere!

LEAD Program

The 2014-2015 GTLA LEAD Program participants hosted their LEAD Class Retreat on the weekend of March 27-29 in Savannah, GA. During the weekend, the LEADers had the chance to meet with many of our local Savannah TLA members, who were extremely gracious hosts to our class. There was also plenty of time to bond as a team and explore the many sights and attractions in Savannah. The LEAD Class will officially graduate at next week's Annual Convention in Atlanta. Congratulations to them all on a great year!

If you are interested in being a part of the 2015-2016 LEAD Program, please keep an eye out for the start of the application process this summer!

Communications

Atlanta, GA -- The Georgia Trial Lawyers Association today joined the Governor's Office of Highway Safety in proclaiming April as Georgia Distracted Driving Awareness Month. In partnership with GOHS, GTLA is kicking off April by reminding educators and community groups about the availability of the End Distracted Driving (EndDD.org) Program -- our partners in this initiative. EndDD, which is administered in Georgia through the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, is an interactive presentation given to schools, civic groups and community partners throughout the state. It is available year-round, but GTLA is encouraging as many groups as possible to sign up for the free presentation in April to highlight the need for change during Distracted Driving Awareness Month. "As the use of technology from behind the wheel has increased over the past decade, so too has the number of collisions, injuries and deaths on our roadways," GTLA President Linley Jones said. "As trial lawyers, we often see the devastation caused as a result of these tragic, but preventable, crashes and it is our goal through this partnership with EndDD to put an end to this senseless epidemic. I thank the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and EndDD Founder Joel Feldman for joining us in this life-saving initiative."
