What has been a significant technology achievement for you or your organization?

Our growth from two servers and a mainframe to an enterprise data center and service provider for the 150+ employees throughout the city, especially during an economic recession! Through strategic service providers, great city leaders and Nicole Goebel – my cohort in crime – we have turned a "fix and repair" mentality to digital partnerships with our city departments.

What future initiatives are you hoping to accomplish in the next year?

Our continued migration to cloud platforms is our main push. We’ve joined with Camden County Sheriff Office (Bryan Fewox) and City of Kingsland (Bill Carreira) to build a collaborative platform for our county’s public safety agencies, and doing so with installing fiber throughout the county!

We continue to drive our digital strategies forward using cloud innovation because of high availability and demand. Obviously, not all systems will be utilizing cloud and off-premise technology; however, we are looking for new ways to deliver digital service to our customers, to minimize waste and inefficiency, and further enable our organization to provide for our community.

Best advice you could offer your fellow members is ...

If you listen to your customers, you have enabled their potential. If you ignore your customers, you have removed your potential. Be the digital service provider your customers expect, then exceed their expectations.

We all know GMIS membership is worth its weight in gold, but what do you feel is the best benefit you get out of GMIS?

The accessibility to individuals who share a common interest, with unlimited talent and a skewed sense of humor. We all have the same problems. We just take different paths to get our solutions.
