The 2015 Fall Technical Meeting is October 18-20, 2015 immediately before Gear Expo 2015 in Detroit, MI. Each year the Fall Technical Meeting (FTM) provides an outstanding opportunity to share ideas with others in the gear industry on design, analysis, manufacturing and application of gears, gear drives and related products, as well as associated processes and procedures. Authors have the opportunity to present the results of their work to an audience of knowledgeable professionals from the United States and around the world, and to participate in discussions with that audience. Reuters U.S. factory activity moderated in November, but sustained gains in new orders and a rebound in exports suggested the economy remained on a firmer footing despite slowing global growth.
 
CNBC Euro zone manufacturing activity missed forecasts and slowed in November, with German activity contracting -- hitting hopes of a pick-up in the bloc's largest economy. Markit's euro zone manufacturing PMI was nearly flat at 50.1 in November, missing analysts' forecasts of 50.4. This was a fall from the 50.6 recorded in October.

The Moscow Times As a falling ruble and stagnant economy continue to drive down truck sales in Russia, Swedish auto manufacturer Volvo last week expanded its truck facility to include cabin production in hopes of a market revival. Volvo Trucks Russia now has a facility that at full capacity will be capable of assembling 15,000 heavy truck cabins a year — five times the company's current truck sales.

News Observer After 18 months of meetings, hearings and revisions, the state Mining and Energy Commission has settled on a set of rules to regulate fracking in North Carolina.The rules are based on public hearings, some 200,000 public comments and the lessons learned from problems elsewhere. But the rule-making process itself seems to belie that objective.
