Reuters Slower growth in the Chinese and U.S. factory sectors raised worries about global growth on Monday, even though European manufacturers enjoyed a solid start to the year. Data showed growth in China's manufacturing sector slowed to a six-month low, while its service sector grew at its slowest pace in five years.

Manufacturing Business Technology The Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa says it will close its western Pennsylvania plant and eliminate the 62 remaining jobs. Gamesa USA officials said Tuesday that the closure of the 8-year-old plant was prompted by a shift in the market from Pennsylvania and the Midwest to the southwestern United States. They said the company had to alter its manufacturing and supply chain strategy to keep energy costs low and maintain a strong market presence.

Birmingham Post A Midland manufacturer is to create 25 new jobs this year after opening a new advanced engineering centre. RDM Group aims to hit £25 million in sales on the back of a £400,000 investment in an additional 20,000 sq ft facility on the Bilton Industrial Estate, Coventry.
 
Businessweek Airbus Group NV (AIR) is studying an upgrade of its A330 wide-body jet with more efficient engines in a contest that may pit General Electric Co. against Rolls-Royce Group Plc, people familiar with the plan said. The European planemaker aims to make a decision about a possible upgrade by the end of March, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private.
