The CPA has been made aware that some member companies may have experienced delays in rail shipments due to recent extreme weather conditions. As a result, the CPA has been working closely with both Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) railways to communicate these concerns and ensure that propane is delivered as timely and efficiently as possible.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) recently launched their Alternative Fuelling Station Locator. With your help, the CPA was able to put propane fuel on the map! You will note that propane (and electric charging stations) has by far, the most locations on the map.

CPA President & CEO Nathalie St-Pierre presented propane as a viable, low-carbon solution and an essential element in Ontario’s environmental and energy options to Minister of Finance Charles Sousa and MPPs on January 31.

The CPA has been working with the federal and provincial governments during this period of extreme weather conditions on the possibility of obtaining a waiver to the Hours of Service regulation (Ontario Regulation 555/06) for member companies that may require one.

On January 17, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne announced a cabinet shuffle. This is expected to be the last changes to cabinet before the Ontario election in June. There are a few changes that are of interest to the CPA.

New Brunswick Environment Minister Serge Rousselle reiterated that the New Brunswick government is confident that its climate plan complies with federal requirements, amid emerging new details of the federal 'Backstop' carbon pricing that will be imposed on provinces that do not meet carbon pricing systems that align with the federal benchmark.
