In September, the Ontario Government released a draft proposal for an updated Green Commercial Vehicle Program (GCVP). While the previous version of this program (2008-10) included propane vehicles, this new proposal has initially only included electric and natural gas vehicles, as well as various fuel efficiency technologies. The CPA is working to ensure this program includes propane vehicles.

In an effort to enhance the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in rural Ontario, the CPA has proposed a Rural Propane Retrofit Program to the Ontario government. The objective of the program is to switch rural Ontario consumers from heating oil to clean-burning propane.

Nova Scotia Environment is currently developing greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification, reporting and verification (QRV) regulations needed to support the development and implementation of the cap and trade program.

As expected, Premier Couillard’s cabinet shuffle resulted in several new faces joining cabinet while the older guard shifted roles. The new cabinet will be composed of 30 ministers, which is quite large – nearly half of the Liberal caucus.
