BC: Technical Safety BC consultation timelines improved

During the fall it had become clear that consultation requests from Technical Safety BC to CPA BC members had very short turnaround times for responses. BC Committee Chair Nancy Borden expressed her concern to the CPA regarding the short timelines, stating that there are many BC members who would like to respond to matters that can affect their industry, but with such short timelines, they would have to drop business priorities to address TSBC feedback requests.

As a result, Borden and CPA President Nathalie St-Pierre wrote a joint letter to Technical Safety BC President Catherine Roome, outlining the issue and suggesting a minimum 15-business day consultation period. During follow up discussions with the regulator, it was identified that TSBC was assigning timelines according to how relevant they determined the material was to a particular industry. The TSBC has since changed this guideline, incorporating the CPA suggestion to make all consultation periods a minimum of 15 business days.
