1st International Joint Conference in WDSA / CCWI in Kingston, Ontario – July 23-25, 2018


In 2018, the two top-tier meetings in urban water systems modelling will come together in a joint conference in Kingston, Ontario. Queen’s University and the Royal Military College are organizing the 1st International Joint Conference in Water Distribution Systems Analysis and Computing and Control in the Water Industry in Kingston, Ontario, on July 23-25, 2018. 

This international conference has been held in locations such as South Africa, Australia and many parts of Western Europe and the US. Conference co-chair Dr. Yves Filion, an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Queen’s says: "We’re very excited to bring these two top-tier groups together for the first time. This conference has never been in Canada before and we are just so honoured and excited to be hosting it in Kingston, Canada." The conference will include a large scope of topics within urban water systems such as water management and climate change, water infrastructure asset management, combined sewer overflows, low impact development technologies, and many others. 

The conference will bring together industry professionals from municipalities, consulting firms, and university researchers to come together and discuss the big challenges facing the municipal water systems the world over today. Dr. Filion is enthusiastic about the networking opportunities at the conference: "We will have a special conference track entirely focused on industry presentations where professionals from municipalities, government, and private consulting will be able to exchange ideas and share experiences on interesting projects."
