Water Sector Resilience Project Announced

CWWA is proud to announce its partnership with Public Safety Canada and Dalhousie University, working together on a national project on Strengthening the Resilience of the Canadian Water Sector. The project is funded by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) through the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP).

This research project, developed by the three partners, will focus on identifying measures that can be taken to assist in strengthening the resilience of Canada’s water sector. CWWA’s Security & Emergency Management Committee is looking forward to working closely with Public Safety Canada and Dalhousie University in developing this important project. This project proposal was supported by CWWA’s provincial and regional association partners and the project team will be counting on the participation of our members to make this project a full success.

The federal government made the project funding announcement on Friday, July 17th, 2015, highlighting four projects to be funded through the CSSP to address natural disasters and public health emergencies through Canada – see details of official announcement.

Established in 2012, the CSSP invests in science and technology projects that strengthen Canada’s ability to prevent, mitigate, respond and recover from natural disasters, serious accidents, crime and terrorism. The CSSP is led by DRDC’s Centre for Security Science in partnership with Public Safety Canada.
