Canadian Innovation and the Global Marketplace

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

As part of the Standards Council of Canada’s (SCC’s) ongoing work, we are seeking your assistance in identifying innovative Canadian technologies and management practices that could be advanced internationally as a New Work Item project leading to the development of a new international standard (ISO/IEC).

As sector specialists and stakeholders, you have the in-depth sector knowledge to help SCC identify these market opportunities, key decision-makers and leading companies or organizations.

Through SCC’s research, and with your help, we hope to identify Canadian innovations that currently have no supporting regional or international standard. Our plan is to initiate pilot projects to demonstrate how standardization can help shape the global marketplace and support the successful commercialization of Canadian innovations.

This work, which forms part of SCC’s "Innovation Agenda," is meant to ensure innovative Canadian companies – who may not understand the benefits of standardization – are not left behind! SCC wants to raise awareness and support them by providing advice on how they can use standards as a low-cost method to improve efficiencies, reduce the costs of regulatory compliance, facilitate access to new markets or global supply chains, mitigate risks, decrease time to market and, ultimately, increase profits.

By responding to the research survey, you will help SCC lead Canada’s efforts to influence the development of international standards to become a true "standards maker" in sectors of strategic importance to the Canadian economy.

Although the requested date for response has passed, SCC would still be interested in receiving your thoughts.  The survey itself only takes a couple of minutes.
