CWWA Presents - The 2015 National Water And Wastewater Cconference

CWWA’s Window On Ottawa was back...and better than ever! Shifted from its regular Fall time slot to June 8th & 9th, CWWA’s signature event returned with an outstanding agenda of topics and speakers.

PowerPoint Presentations

Normally we restrict access to the PowerPoint presentations to delegates only. For the first time, we're letting our bulletin subscribers have a look at the great content offered at the event.

You can browse all the presentations at: http://www.cwwa.ca/WOO2016Presentation.asp

The Window

We all agreed that June was a far better time to visit our nation’s capital. There were so many things to see in Ottawa...including the giant sinkhole that occurred during our event...a great attraction for all the asset managers at the Window!

Our fearless Board of Directors stares into the abyss - or at least as close as they can get!

This, our 16th Window On Ottawa, brought together almost 100 delegates and speakers. We certainly accomplished our goal of getting Canadian utility leaders and consultants to meet face to face with national policy makers. Not only could you ask questions from the floor, but following each session, presenters were available in the post-panel room for further discussion. We were please to facilitate this new opportunity for national dialogue and it was well-received.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

His Excellency, Rafael Barak, Ambassador of Israel

The Ambassador spoke about the challenges of water management in a country where water scarcity is a constant threat. Israel has been a global leader in water conservation, security and wastewater reuse techniques that could be invaluable as we deal with Canadian climate change

CWWA President, Colwyn Sunderland

Our Association President for 2016 extended a warm welcome to delegates followed by a report on the association’s activities by CWWA’s Executive Director, Robert Haller.

Francis Scarpeleggia, Liberal MP, Lac St. Louis

CWWA was honoured to welcome our good friend and water champion, Mr. Francis Scarpeleggia. As the Liberal MP Lac St. Louis he shared his own passion for water and his efforts to make water a national priority for his government. His efforts are beginning to really show.

The Advocacy Panel

– Brock Carlton (FCM) Tim Williams (WEF) and Robert Haller (CWWA)

CWWA’s Robert Haller led a panel discussion on water issues and how we conduct national advocacy for water in Ottawa versus Washington. FCM’s Brock Carlton spoke to the Canadian experience while WEF’s Tim Williams shared the American story.
