The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and The National Shippers Strategic Transportation Council (NASSTRAC) Join Together in Partnership

Over the past few years, CSCMP and NASSTRAC have been working closely together on a variety of projects and discovered that there were significant synergies between the two associations and felt that there were opportunities for the two to complement one another and provide additional value to their respective members in meaningful ways.

NASSTRAC, is a professional organization focused on shippers and transportation. Founded in 1952, their mission is “providing education, advocacy and provider relationships to transportation, logistics and supply chain professionals who manage freight across all mode.” Led by their Executive Director, Gail Rutowski, NASSTRAC provides its members with content, education, advocacy and engaged events with speakers, panels, sponsors, media relations and exhibitors driving real time value for decision making.

"We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings to all of our members in terms of member benefits. Working together, CSCMP and NASSTRAC will be able to offer members the opportunity to participate in a supply chain community that brings people together enabling them to become better, both individually and as a group." Gail Rutkowski, Executive Director, NASSTRAC.

NASSTRAC will begin to integrate their annual conference with the CSCMP EDGE Conference in the Fall of 2019. CSCMP EDGE draws over 3,000 supply chain professionals annually. The 2019 EDGE Conference will be held in September 15-18 of 2019 in Anaheim, CA. Both CSCMP and NASSTRAC believe this change will benefit both associations, conference attendees, exhibitors, the industry at large and should provide a model for future years.

"NASSTRAC's focus on transportatoin, given the environment, the dynamic around transportation, and a focus on it, will help us bring more education, content and thought leadership to that part of the supply chain.  From CSCMP's Annual State of Logistics Report, we know that transportation is 65% of the total logistics cost.  This match makes a lot of sense for our combined membership and for the scale and focus that it will bring."  Rick Blasgen, CEO and President, CSCMP.

CSCMP and NASSTRAC are excited for the partnership and hope to have even greater success with creating more value to their members by adding more opportunities in education, advocacy, engagement locally and through the annual conference.
