Institute News
The board of directors of the Society of Actuaries has voted to decline the CIA’s request for recognition of our University Accreditation Program exemptions towards the ASA and FSA designations. The CIA leadership reiterates its confidence regarding the value and future of the program, as well as the continuation of its strategy regarding member education.
 
The work involved in introducing a risk management framework can be difficult, but for actuary Mark Struck—the subject of our latest profile of ERM practitioners—that challenge is far outweighed by the opportunities and learning experiences it offers.
 
This new feature in the (e)Bulletin gives members an opportunity to tell their peers about themselves via the answers to 10 straightforward and fun questions. The questionnaire is a way of temporarily turning the focus away from the day-to-day work of actuarial science and more towards the people who make up the profession.
 
The Pension Experience Subcommittee thanks all those who have made submissions in response to the draft report on Canadian pensioners’ mortality released on July 31. Here is an update on the next steps.
