On April 1, 2015 Governor Brown signed an executive order requiring the State Water Board to implement measures in cities and towns to cut the state's overall water usage by 25 percent compared with 2013 levels. This savings amounts to approximately 1.5 million acre-feet of water over the next nine months, or nearly as much as is currently in Lake Oroville.

Changes to the Cal/OSHA heat illness prevention regulations for outdoor workers are expected to go into effect on May 1, 2015. Employers should review the changes as the regulations cover a wide range of occupations and exposure levels. The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) will be hosting Public Listening Sessions regarding the development of Emergency Regulations on Groundwater Basin Boundary Revisions as part of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). According to DWR, these listening sessions are in addition and prior to the required public meetings that will occur once the Draft Regulations are developed. DWR will present information and will be seeking input on basin boundary issues that could create potential difficulties with SGMA implementation.
