Welcome to Another Year with CCBO, by Rob Widmer, CCBO President.
I am honored to serve this year as President of CCBO. I accepted this responsibility knowing a solid foundation for CCBO had been laid by the leaders who preceded me. All of our combined experience and expertise will be needed, because this year certainly promises to be challenging for community colleges.

Leadership Academy

The 2008 CCBO Leadership Academy met at the Omni Bayfront Hotel in Corpus Christi, TX, on November 8-9, 2008. The class of 22 was two larger than the 2007 class and consisted of eight of the previous 12 members, and 14 new students.

Community College leaders are constantly facing the challenges that come with being on the front lines of post-secondary education. The present "perfect storm" of increased demands for student instruction - partnered with lower federal, state, local and student tuition funding - is indeed a crisis not faced by most of our colleagues for 20 or 30 years, if at all in our lifetime.

On Tuesday night, the McLennan Community College trustees officially named Johnette McKown to become the third president in the college's more than 40 years.
Funded by MetLife Foundation, AACC's Center for Workforce and Economic Development has published a new report that profiles successful community college workforce development partnerships and leading tools and resources from across the country. The report is called "Sustaining Partnerships for Regional Economic Growth."
