In 2012, APPA staff and members will travel to Cleveland, Ohio, for the
12th Annual Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo, April 13-14, and the 56th
Annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference, April 15-18.
The Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo features two levels of competition:
journeyman and apprentice. Journeymen compete in five timed events;
apprentices take a written test and compete in four events. Events are
judged on safety, work practices, neatness, ability, equipment handling,
and timely event completion.
With its mix of formal presentations and informal peer interaction, the
Engineering & Operations Technical Conference is for public power
professionals charged with designing, developing and maintaining the
nation’s electric system.
Participants can earn a full year’s worth of professional development
hours (PDHs) by attending the conference. Pre-conference seminars on,
Effective Management of Electric Field Operations, The New 2012
National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and Cyber Security for Public
Power Utilities will be offered on Sunday, April 15.
