It’s fall – a time for the beautiful colors as the change of season begins in most parts of the country and, of course, Halloween. 

It was so wonderful to see so many of you last month at the ASHHRA 51st Annual Conference in Orlando. The attendance was great, and the enthusiasm contagious. We had great keynote speakers and concurrent sessions. Jon Gordon, Ian Morrison and Talent Anarchy all had their own unique perspective to share with us, and the feedback has been very positive. 

Thank you again to Carl McDonald and all of the members of the Annual Conference Committee for their hard work and dedication and putting together such a wonderful conference. Also my sincere thanks to all of the volunteers on all of our committees for your efforts on behalf of ASHHRA. As I stated in my address, we really couldn’t do it without our volunteers and all that you do. 

Fall is also a time when, at least in my system, we are extremely busy. Open enrollment, performance appraisals, special projects... I guess I have been around long enough to remember when we actually had a little bit of downtime during the year. That doesn’t seem to happen anymore; it is always go, go, go. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the season.

Reflecting on our days together in Orlando, I am energized by what I learned, in particular by networking with many of you and building new relationships. I wish you a great October and festive fall.
