It’s July and the birth month of our nation. We’re also halfway through 2015 already, which seems hard to believe. You can tell summer has arrived when hot weather is nearly everywhere. The talk is now about where people are going to on vacation and how to beat the heat. It wasn’t too long ago that we were hoping for warmer weather. Some of us, like those of us in California, are still wishing for rain. While others are wishing for the rain to go away.

July is a month where a lot of legislative activity tends to slow down – although that’s not as true in California where a lot of new laws go into effect. This year is no different in that respect. Change is everywhere, especially in health care. It’s part of our job in human resources to help rally everyone toward it with enthusiasm and the skills necessary to embrace it. To make sure you have the skills necessary, make sure to register for the 2015 ASHHRA Annual Conference in Orlando. Not only will we help provide the skill development, but we will provide the fun and networking to maintain your enthusiasm for our profession.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation planned, even if it’s a staycation where you can relax, unwind and get things done that you’ve been putting off. Whatever you have planned this summer, enjoy!
