ASHHRA eNews Brief
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
It’s May and the time of year for celebrations in health care. In the beginning of May, we celebrated National Nurses Week, and this week – through to the 17th – we celebrate National Hospital Week. I prefer to say that we celebrate health care in the month of May, so I hope you have a wonderful celebration, wherever you work.

I had the honor of being invited to speak recently at the Tri-State HR meeting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which was a collaboration of the North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia ASHHRA affiliated chapters that held a joint educational conference. It was a great success and well-attended even by those in other states too! It is really wonderful to see the dedication that these chapter leaders have to our profession and their fellow HR colleagues to put together such a well-rounded conference. I know how much work goes into being a chapter leader and planning a conference, and I want to say to them, it was well worth it. Great job to all involved!

I just returned from Washington, D.C., where we had an ASHHRA Board meeting in conjunction with the AHA Advocacy Days and our annual Hill visit by the Advocacy Committee. This year, your ASHHRA Board joined forces with the Advocacy Committee, and in some cases, their health system and state associations to visit our members on Capitol Hill and bring our issues to the forefront. It was very productive and informative for all involved. Thank you to everyone who participated!

I hope everyone is enjoying spring. It seems that the weather is finally cooperating in most areas.

Happy May to all.
