Dear ASHHRA Colleagues,

It’s March and with that comes the beginning of spring, which is my favorite season. For many of you, that seems hard to believe as this winter has been going on for so long, and according to the groundhog, it is going to continue for a bit longer. I can relate to that as I was snowed in at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport two weekends ago and couldn’t get out due to weather conditions.

Spring is the season of renewal, a time to plant flowers, reseed our lawns, clean out our closets and for warmer and longer days. We should also take time to renew and reinvest in ourselves.

One way to reinvest in yourself is to make sure you remain current professionally and take the time to enjoy life and smell the roses. To remain current professionally, don’t forget to make sure and renew your ASHHRA membership. ASHHRA provides so many great services and educational opportunities.

One of the hardest things for many of us to do is to take time for ourselves. I know that I am guilty of that as well. As you are busy making plans for your spring and the rest of the year, make time to plan to invest in you and do something for yourself! As every flight attendant tells you before you take off, you have to put on your own oxygen mask first, before you can assist others.
