As I reflect on the history of our Nation, I get excited about the possibility of being in Washington, D.C., for the Annual Conference. I am looking forward to being able to visit the incredible monuments and museums that encourage us to remember those people and historical events that have made this country such a special place to live and grow. Please join me in September at the Annual Conference to experience great learning opportunities while being in the center of our country’s history. 

 

This month I am directly experiencing the impact of the "new normal" in my health system. We are working through a staffing reorganization process. As my team and I work with the impacted employees within our organization, I am reminded of how the two HR Leader Competencies of Healthcare Business Knowledge, knowing the "business" side of health care, and HR Delivery, the "people" side of health care, converge. We also have to exemplify Personal Leadership by demonstrating strength and compassion for those we serve. I am also reflecting on all the many benefits of ASHHRA. I am so thankful to have a strong network of colleagues within ASHHRA that are here to lend a hand and offer support.

 

As we think of the terms "new normal," "working to the top of our license," and non-revenue producing areas, I think that working to the top of our license as health care human resources professionals can be demonstrated by seeking our Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR) in order to add value to our organization and our profession. Join me in becoming certified while at the Annual Conference by registering to sit for the certification on Tuesday, October 1.
