The American Medical Association plans to award $15 million in grants over five years to graduate medical education sponsors, medical schools, health systems and specialty societies that partner to better align residency training with the evolving needs of patients, communities and the health care system. The Reimagining Residency initiative will fund up to eight partnerships intended to help future physicians transition from medical school to residency, develop skills to enhance their readiness for practice, and train in an environment that promotes their well-being.
