Greensea Systems, Inc. of Richmond, Vermont was honored to receive the 2018 Corporate Excellence Award presented by the Remotely Operated Vehicle committee of the Marine Technology Society (MTS) at Underwater Intervention in New Orleans, Louisiana
 
The regional advocacy group for the North-east of England’s subsea sector has appointed Bruce Heppenstall as its new chairman. Heppenstall will take over the reins of Subsea North East from Andrew Hodgson to further strengthen the organisation’s position as a leading authority across the industry.
 
UK-based marine services business James Fisher & Sons has acquired Australian company Cowan Manufacturing, a specialist in recompression chambers. James Fisher said on 19 February that the acquisition, featuring the entire share capital in the Australian company, is valued at AUD2.6 million (USD2 million).

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The ADCI announced its 2018 inductees into the Commercial Diving Hall of Fame as well as its recipients of the ADCI Scholarship award, all of whom will be honored at Underwater Intervention 2018 in New Orleans. Congratulations to Craig Fortenbery and Mike Ward for being inducted into the Commercial Diving Hall of Fame! Congratulations also to Audrey Aitken and Tyler Kleinsasser for being awarded the 2018 ADCI Scholarship Award. We look forward to celebrating all of these achievements at UI.

Next Geosolutions has launched a new division, Next Geosolutions UK Continental Shelf (Next UKCS), following its acquisition of RMS Submarine in 2017.
 
Tekmar Energy Limited was named company of the year at Subsea UK’s annual awards while Richard Marsh was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the industry. The awards, which celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals in the UK subsea industry, were presented at a gala dinner in Aberdeen during Subsea Expo - Europe’s largest subsea-focused exhibition and conference.
 
Unique Group, one of the world’s most prominent integrated subsea and offshore solution providers, has re-established a dealer agreement with Kongsberg Maritime AS for the Middle East region. Under the business cooperation agreement, Unique Group’s offices in the region will offer sale and service of KM’s wide range of underwater mapping, navigation, acoustics and camera solutions to customers in the territories of Bahrain, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE. The two companies presently have an agreement in place for Nigeria and Kenya.
 
NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Bluestream, who dominate platform inspection in the Dutch sector, aims to offer their experienced services to the UK Central and Northern North Sea Sectors with a Saab Seaeye-based, full scope inspection package. By adding two new gravity-based Saab Seaeye Cougar XT Compact Zone II ROV systems to their fleet – a low-profile design of vehicle especially suited for fixed or floating platform inspections – Bluestream expect to assist their clients by bringing their experience and potential cost saving solutions to the UK offshore market.
