Inland Rivers HR, a full-service inland marine human resources outsourcing company, has announced its inception to serve the river industry. The company is designed to offer human resources support for companies looking to outsource their HR functions.
 
SUBSALVE USA and Performance Inflatables Company, jointly announced today the acquisition of SUBSALVE USA by Performance Inflatables Company. The business will continue to operate, with its current staff, at its current location, as a subsidiary of Performance Inflatables Company. Details of the transaction remain private.
 
Identifying new opportunities and understanding regional challenges are set to be key themes at the 2017 Subsea Asia conference and exhibition, as the call for speakers is launched. Organised by Subsea UK, Subsea Asia will run from 13-16 September alongside the Oil & Gas Indonesia 2017 conference in Jakarta.
 
Marine contractor, Briggs Marine, has invested more than £1million into its subsea services division over recent months. The company has enhanced its subsea cable repair and installation capabilities with the addition of two new 15Te tracked cable tensioners.
 
U.S. Coast Guard officials said today that they and partner agencies began removing fuel from a barge that capsized in San Francisco Bay in April. The 112-foot freight barge Vengeance capsized on April 7 south of the Bay Bridge and settled above the subterranean BART Transbay Tube, which is protected by a 25- to 30-foot layer of earth, according to Coast Guard officials.

The UK is getting a new commercial astronaut training facility, called "Blue Abyss," which will include a pool with a depth of 50 meters, Engadget reports. That’s 164 feet, which tops (or undercuts, rather) NASA’s own 12 meter buoyancy lab, and it’ll help prepare paid private astronauts for the rigors of spaceflight, along with other features of the facility, including hypobaric and hyperbaric champers, and a centrifuge for simulating high-G flight.
 
Subsea IMR provider, N-Sea Offshore Limited, has reached one million man-hours without a lost time incident (LTI). N-Sea sets a high example for outstanding SHEQ performance and the industry milestone, which was reached earlier this month, is reinforced by the recent launch of the N-Sea Golden Rules programme, which embeds excellence in SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality).
 
Aberdeen-headquartered subsea cable and connector specialist Hydro Group plc increases its global presences as it announces its partnership with Turkish firm, IMCA Electronics. Complementing Hydro Group’s cable and connection solutions, IMCA offers a range of sub-systems and components for highly demanding technical applications on land, sea and air.
 
NEW PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Bollinger Shipyards has delivered the USCGC OLIVER BERRY, the 24th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) to the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard took delivery on June 27, 2017 in Key West, Florida and the vessel’s commissioning is scheduled for October, 2017 in Honolulu.
