2 – Compliance required after 12 months from 7 July 2011
3 – Compliance required after 24 months from 7 July 2011

UnderWater magazine is seeking feature stories and photography covering subjects of broad significance to the commercial diving industry. Possible article topics include, but are not limited to: safety, new techniques, new equipment, equipment reviews, recent projects, etc. Special attention will be given to articles highlighting safety; however, all topics of general interest to diving contractors will be considered. Photography accompanying your story is welcome and encouraged. Here is a chance to highlight and share some of the notable accomplishments of your company or school.

Oilfield services firm Bibby Offshore confirmed Tuesday that one of its divers survived after an accident that cut his umbilical air supply. The diver, Chris Lemons, had to rely on his standby tank for almost 40 minutes as efforts were made to get him back into a diving bell.

Despite the potential, offshore wind installation activity has been slow to take off. Industry watchers will remember early projects in the UK market – 2001 onwards – and optimism at the time regarding short-term growth prospects. In reality, sustained growth has taken longer to materialise. An underwater recovery team from the U.S. Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command arrived off the coast of France this week to search for an American servicemember missing since World War II.
The 25-person team of JPAC specialists, civilian mariners from the USNS Grapple and divers from Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit Two will excavate off the coast of Calvi, Corsica, for an American lost in a B-17 crash in February 1944, according to a JPAC statement Tuesday.
