Except where noted, all new certification and equipment requirements will take effect immediately. Noted changes to take effect after formal adoption of this document will be annotated by a superscript (1, 2, or 3) after the stated requirement.

The legend for the superscript is as follows:
1 – Compliance required after 6 months from 7 July 2011
2 – Compliance required after 12 months from 7 July 2011
3 – Compliance required after 24 months from 7 July 2011

Dear Diver Medic:
The National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology is pleased to announce a DMT refresher training course. It is scheduled for January 25/26, 2012 and will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. This unique training opportunity is organized and sponsored by the National Board and will coincide with Underwater Intervention 2012, the Association of Diving Contractors International’s annual conference.
Several diving medical specialists have agreed to speak. The National Board is also very grateful to Safety Management Systems, a division of Acadian Companies, and headquartered in Lafayette, LA. SMS agreed to make available several of its instructors and all necessary manikins for the clinical and diagnostic skills sessions.
A registration fee of $75.00 will cover all course materials, lunch (Cajun style) daily, coffee and sodas throughout each day, and a DMT t-shirt.

PANAMA CITY BEACH - A piece of local and marine history is decaying and in desperate need of rehabilitation.
The SeaLab I sea floor habitat changed the limits for divers and researchers, leading to saturation diving, staying on the ocean floor for days or weeks at the time. It’s the focus of fundraising by the Man in the Sea Museum on Back Beach Road (U.S. 98), which houses the habitat. A two-year campaign for complete refurbishment begins with the Oyster Bash on Jan. 20.

Onboard personnel took 35 minutes to record an underwater sound velocity profile of a 1,730-m (5,676-ft) deep section. According to GSP Offshore, this beats the previous record for sound velocity profiling of a water column, measuring 1,563 m (5,128 ft) which had been set by the National Data Buoy Center in association with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Using cutting-edge technology, a group of Michigan teenagers hope they will locate evidence of the bravery displayed by America’s Greatest Generation halfway across the world.
Students from Michigan’s Stockbridge High School will soon take their knowledge of robotics and travel to a remote island in search of lost World War II planes and perhaps aid in finding the remains of lost servicemen.

A team of explorers has discovered the wreck of a British submarine that sunk off the Maltese coast during the Second World War. HMS Olympus struck a mine in the early hours of 8 May, 1942 shortly after she left Malta Harbour under the cover of darkness.

FMC Technologies, Inc. announced that it has signed an agreement with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation to provide subsea systems and life-of-field services for its Lucius project.
The Lucius field is located approximately 275 miles southeast of Galveston in Keathley Canyon Block 875, in water depths of approximately 7,100 feet (2,160 meters). FMC’s scope of supply includes five subsea production trees and two manifolds. The equipment will be supplied from the Company’s operation in Houston and deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.

FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI) announced today that its Australian subsidiary has signed an agreement with Woodside Energy Ltd. for the design, manufacture and supply of subsea production systems to support the Greater Western Flank (GWF) Phase 1 Project. The contract has a value of approximately $150 million in revenue to FMC Technologies.

Spanish utility Iberdrola has submitted two bids for wind-farm projects off the Brittany and Atlantic coasts in France. The bid is part of the French Government's competition to install up to 3gW of offshore wind capacity.
The consortium involved in the process includes Eole Res, together with turbine manufacturer Areva, engineering and construction company Technip, and the developer Neoen Marine.

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET) is pleased to announce the sale of four Perry XLX Generation 2 (G2) Work-Class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to Technip. Technip, a world leader in project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry, will deploy two of the vehicles in Southeast Asia on its newbuild flexlay construction vessel, the Deep Orient. The other two will be deployed on the world’s largest purpose-built ultra-deep water pipelay and subsea construction vessel, Deep Blue, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico.

As of Dec.15, 2011, there had been 48 drill barges, 73 drillships, 74 inland barges, 491 jack-ups, 250 platform rigs, 210 semisubs, 5 submersibles and 40 tenders.
