Except where noted, all new certification and equipment requirements will take effect immediately. Noted changes to take effect after formal adoption of this document will be annotated by a superscript (1, 2, or 3) after the stated requirement.

The legend for the superscript is as follows:


1 – Compliance required after 6 months from 7 July 2011
2 – Compliance required after 12 months from 7 July 2011
3 – Compliance required after 24 months from 7 July 2011

The Coast Guard continues the supervision of the salvage of sunken corn barges on the Mississippi River, Sunday, near mile marker 233.
McKinney Salvage & Heavy Lift completed the salvage operations for one of three corn barges, Friday, owned by American River Transportation Company. The salvage of the second barge is scheduled to begin Wednesday. Following the removal of the second barge, the process to remove the third barge will begin.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) can scan a harbor's seafloor and inspect piers to facilitate detection of UIED threats. The port of Sydney is mapping its seafloor and performing change detection to identify new objects. They can also detect bottom, surface, and moored mines. Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) are able to remove and "neutralize" mines; upcoming UUVs will be able to carry out all these tasks.

Odyssey Marine, an American underwater archaeology and salvage firm, will announce the discovery today along with plans to recover the bullion as part of a contract with the British Government which will see the company retain 80 per cent of the value of the cargo.

THE lives of submariners at sea are to be made safer thanks to a world-class facility being built by the marine arm of defence firm Qinetiq.
It is extending its UK marine headquarters in Haslar in order to install a submarine escape simulator, which will test escape equipment such as protective suits and valves under the kinds of pressures found up to 1,500m under the sea.
It will be housed alongside the Life Support Systems Laboratory in Qinetiq’s Diving and Hyperbaric Test Centre, which is due to open in November.

Schilling Robotics, LLC, experts in subsea systems, announced today the order for two (2) Heavy-Duty™ (HD™) ROV systems from maritime operator SMIT. The HD™ systems will be rated for 4,000m and will be supplied with tether management systems (TMS), control vans, and launch and recovery systems (LARS). SMIT will install the HD™ ROV systems onboard their subsea diving support vessels in support of the company’s expanding global subsea operations. The systems will be delivered first quarter of 2012.

The foundation phase of the Wheatstone Project is estimated to cost US$29 billion (AU$29 billion) and consists of two LNG processing trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tons per annum (MTPA), a domestic gas plant and associated offshore infrastructure including the processing platform, subsea equipment, drilling and an export trunkline.1 First gas is planned for 2016.
