The Port of Galveston hosted a lunch-and-learn to educate their staff on how AAPA can help support their work in the maritime industry. AAPA’s Chief Engagement Officer Mary Beth Long led a discussion on how members can get involved in technical committees, attend educational programs and become certified in our Professional Port Manager Program. The Florida Ports Council released "Connecting Commerce: The 2018-2022 Five-Year Florida Seaport Mission Plan" providing updated figures on international trade, cargo data and cruise activity at Florida’s seaports, showing increases in both cargo and cruise. The Port of New York New Jersey hit another monthly record in April 2018. Total volume for the month of April was 551,117 TEUs.
 
The Port of Long Beach was recognized recently as the "Best Green Seaport" in the world at the 32nd annual Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards hosted in Shanghai by the Asia Cargo News shipping trade publication. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is hosting three public open houses on proposed amendments to its Land Use Plan for seven sites acquired this year in the District of North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Delta, Richmond and Surrey.
 
 
   
Port Manatee is actively enhancing its relationship with Argentina, its No. 1 source of imports, as an Argentine diplomat sees fortifying the U.S. Gulf Coast port’s role in linking Latin America’s second-most-populous nation with burgeoning Central and Southwest Florida markets.
